More than a decade ago, a team of American dermatologists, engineers, and executives including Robert Grove, Ph.D., Tobin Island, Ph.D., Jonathan Pearson, MBA, and Mark Weckwerth, Ph.D., developed the first diode laser for hair removal utilized by physicians in their medical practices. In 2003, these individuals founded SpectraGenics, Inc., later renamed Tria Beauty Inc. and assembled an internationally renowned team of experts in the field of aesthetic laser technologies to begin the development of its flagship TRIA device, which was subsequently launched in the UK in early 2007 .
